Purpose of Role
To support the production department ensuring all equipment, including electronics, assembly and test, is fully maintained and operating efficiently. Working in a multi skilled role providing both reactive and preventative solutions to help achieve improvements in OEE.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Effectively maintain a varied range of equipment, ensuring an acceptable level of safety at all times.
• Root cause diagnose all breakdowns / faults to prevent reoccurrences
• React to all breakdowns and requested tasks in a timely manner.
• Liaise with other departments to give assistance on project development or reviews.
• Train operators and technicians when necessary and generate the relevant
documentation. Support the maintenance team and share knowledge.
• Monitor manufacturing equipment performance with the aim of implementing process improvements. Relevant to machine ownership responsibilities.
• Support in depth analysis of failure modes using suitable diagnostic tools.
• Follow stores procedure to maintain appropriate stock levels. Identify spares for stock items and identify critical spare parts.
• Develop, implement and review Preventative Maintenance routines.
• Undertake any other duties of which the responsibility, experience and skills required fall within the post holder’s expected capabilities and commensurate with the post holder’s position in the company.
• Work on own initiative with a pro active approach, using data and knowledge to make complex decisions usually in order to solve major problems whilst on shift.
• Have sound knowledge of Health & Safety procedures relevant to the work place.
• Adapt to change in procedures and culture, must show a high level of flexibility.
• Support and carry out project work as and when requested.
• Communicate thoroughly internally and externally at all levels.
Education/Qualifications Required
• Educated to a minimum of ONC in an Engineering discipline.
Preferably to HNC standard
• Time served Maintenance Technician.
Experience Required
• Proven experience in a similar multi skilled maintenance role
• Experience of working in an automotive/high volume/electronics/ assembly manufacturing environment.
• Hands on electrical knowledge gained in multi skilled maintenance environment.
• Experience of electro pneumatics circuits and diagrams.
• Allen Bradley / Siemens PLC experience / understanding.
• PC literate (MS Office)
• Experience of electronics test equipment.
• Experience of (SMT) (Surface Mount Technology, medium sized electronic Assembly equipment , Process welding techniques, etc
NB Whilst candidates are not expected to have experience of all of the above they must be able to demonstrate some experience and show a willingness to learn these skills.

Workshop skills to include the use of lathes, milling machines, surface grinders etc
Must be flexible and able to work shifts as required.
